Muslims in Sudan are Stupid

There can be no other reason for something so silly to turn into an international event. If there was ever a moment in time to look at why Islamic countries that have natural resources, are still bassackerds it is this moment.

Mohammad is one of the most popular names in Islam. Why? Because it is the name of the Prophet who crafted Jewish, Christian, and Indigenous religious beliefs together and called it a religion. They then began to take over all of the Middle East, like that is a challenge, and sweeping through Africa and parts of Europe. So it was this cycle of reinforcement that they had “the true” faith.

One could also say that it was because they had people who looked into medical, philosophical, and scientific advancements thus making them a superior fighting force than those they fought, but then you would have to be rational.

Fast forward a couple hundred years with that same religious people that had a hunger for knowledge then found that such quests were against the teachings of the Prophet and kill those who didn’t comply, and have the repressive Christian Church lighten up on its technological breakthroughs and presto, we have the modern age.

How far has the West come do to this line of thinking? Cell phones, laptops, nuclear weapons and walking on the moon. How far has the Middle East come? They get upset at people who let 7 year old name Teddy Bears. Which by the way Republicans should issue their own Jihad, for naming a toy after Theodore Roosevelt, instead of the true prophet of the Lord Ronald Reagan, Peace be Upon Him.

My favorite part of this story is the quote given by the Brit’s employer, “It’s a pretty fair verdict, she could have had six months in prison, and a fine, and she only got 15 days and deportation.” Whaaaaaaaat? That logic makes my head hurt and I lived in the deep south for 10 years.

Though this could be a positive thing. I mean if Muslims were not the hypocritical people. If you don’t want “modern” technology like bikini’s or television or fire, then don’t use modern weapons to attack Western targets. Use the weapons that Allah gave you sticks and stones, that way you get to have the vestal virgins, and we are rid of your stupid ideology.

I mean lets at least be congruent with our own teaching shall we? Christ told us that is would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a man of wealth to enter heaven, so we began to build advanced technology to make smaller camels. You on the other hand call the last 1300 years of advancement heresy, yet use those heretical technologies to kill others. I find that confusing.

I think it is time to bring back a practice that the Romans used, which seems to be the only method of communication you people understand, decimation. In Rome it was when every tenth person was killed to make a point. Now it may take killing every third, or even every other person before you get the point, but in the long run, considering your past behavior, it may well be worth it.

The only groups of people that seem to be able to merge the teaching of Islam with being decent human beings are the Druze, Kurds, and Turks. Everybody else seems to have a psychological disorder that gives them moral authority to kill all who do not agree. And to you hippys that feel I am doing the same thing, you would be wrong.  Because as I write this, reports are flying in that thousands of Sudanese want to have the British Teacher executed.

With the atrocities that the Government of Sudan has done to the Africans in Darfur, for us to hold this “Muhammad-Gate” as a pinnacle of lunacy is sadder still. Perhaps a message does need to be sent to Sudan, and the Islamic world to knock it off. But it may take wiping out the whole populace, since Muslims In Sudan Are Stupid.

Declare A Jihad On Me…

Due to what some may call soul searching, self examination, inner reflexion, I have discovered that while some of my more recent writings may have had one or two humorous points to them, the overall tone has been very serious, academic even.

Well not today!

While I cannot take credit for the inspiration behind many of the jokes written below, I did reformulate the language of them in order to not be accused of plagiarism. Then again having such low morals and expectations seems to have worked out well for our President.

Signs that you are a Fundamentalist Islamic Terrorist…the cheap joke here would be to say you are either Arab, or Islamic, but this is a sophisticated site. So instead, you deserve to be ridiculed and possibly water-boarded, but not tortured,  if any below describe your Middle East country of choice…

1. You have declared a Jihad against Pokemon, because it promotes Zionist principles - even though everything about the game shows it was created in Japan.

2. You refine and sell heroine to pay for the murder of women and children by using suicide bombers at crowded shopping markets, but have a moral and religious objections to the consumption of alcohol.

3. You consider the ideologies of the West, such as being able to vote, women not dressed as bee keepers, and television to be dangerous, but you routinely carry around a rocket launcher, and an AK.

4. When receiving your first cell phone your first thought was how you could use it to attack US or Israeli convoys, instead of calling friends and family.

5. Burning down embassies and rioting is the way you show that stereotypes of Islam being violent are untrue.

6. You demand that the land you lost while being the aggressor in multiple wars be given back to you, and to punctuate the point that you are ready to be a part of the International Community by chanting “Death to Israel! Death to America!”.

7. You arrested a Teacher for letting her class of 7 year olds name a Teddy Bear Muhammad, yet having 2 million people named Muhammad is fine, even if they be violent and vile people.

8. Having a relative being killed while attacking the Israeli Military is proof of atrocities by a Zionist government, but were that same relative to kill women and children at a crowded market it is proof he was a hero.

9. You cite that “Land for Peace” is what you want, only when you are offered Land for Peace, you turn it down and say you want more.

10. You care more about killing your enemies children, than you do about taking care of your own children’s future.

The only way that these can’t be funny in a depressing way is if they cease to be true, then they can be funny ha ha. Islam is represented by the people who are the loudest and most visible of its followers. Those happen to be vile, despicable, cowards who are not shunned by the majority of the Islamic world, merely quietly, and not so quietly, rooted for.

Many of the Islamic world feel this is unfair, and how dare we call a faith of peace to be so violent. They neglect the fact that much of Middle Eastern hatred of the West is rooted in the Crusades, which may have been violent, but also over 500 years ago.

So it is that we hear of the Palestinian People celebrating the attacks of 9-11, and the Saudi Arabian government get a free pass on an education system that fostered those attacks. If you don’t like it then I dare you, Declare A Jihad On Me.

Palestinian Genocide

Having been raised in the Judaeo-Christian system of morality within the boundaries of the United States, I have been taught several tenants that are to mold me into an upstanding citizen that contributes to society.

These tenants include that God is a just and merciful male, all people have worth but some are worth more than others, and that hating a group of people based upon stereotypes is wrong but saying that you found Jesus is a way to get out of it. There are other tenants but the first rule is that I can’t talk about it…

What makes me so infuriated with the supposed “plight” of the Palestinian people is that they drive otherwise sensible, moral, and civilized people to believe that genocide is a viable option. I shall explain with a little history.

Let us go back to the beginning, before World War II there had been Jewish immigrants returning to the Land of Canaan which was being ruled by the British Empire, because someone had to draw the short stick. These people had a desire to see a Jewish state reemerge in the area, because of historical ties to the land among other reasons. After WWII, and the atrocities that were committed this drive became even more focused and pronounced.

So we have two groups simultaneously pressing for self-determination and for the British to leave. The Israelis, as they would come to be known, used some terror tactics to drive the Brits out - but also put groups together that would be responsible for the needs of the people, silly things we in the West call “Governments”.

The Palestinians on the other hand must have assumed that Allah and Mohamed, the prophet not the Teddy Bear *wink* would descend from heaven and rule them, because they did not organize anything. Come to think of it, that is the standard criteria for Middle East “governments” today, huh.

So Israel declares Independence and Jews living within the Arab world start disapearing, and their stuff gets claimed by the governments, and Nazi criminals are given asylum if they go to Egypt and Syria, I guess as a good faith gesture.

Fast forward a couple years and we have what we can an interesting turn of events. Since the “Palestinians” still didn’t really have any semblance of leadership or capabilities they were kinda being ruled by the leaders of Jordan, and Syria, and Israel was not even half as large as it is today.

We come to a time now called the “Six Day War”, where the combined might of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria would crush the country of Israel which had only a fraction of the population of their enemy. Well not quite, since Israel launched a preemptive attack on the Egyptian “Air Force” and not wanting to disclose this to their allies had Jordan and Syria attack without the support from the skies, and they were decimated.

It was in this war that the Israelis received the Golan Heights, Sinai Peninsula, West Bank, Gaza and more importantly the Eastern part of Jerusalem. This put the Wailing Wall, last remnant of Solomon’s Temple, back in Jewish hands. Being one of the Holiest sites you can see why they may have been upset at the Arabs using it as a trash heap, although we are supposed to be ashamed that we fire at a Mosque they are using as a fortress.

Lets call it an even two years later, and the Arab Community is seeing what kind of a problem this is going to be. Jordan got a lot of Palestinians and they formed the PLO, and wanted to declare another war on Israel, King Huessein kicked them the hell out cause he didn’t want another war, even though he is a supposed descendant of the Prophet Muhammad some Islamic Fundamentalist killed him.

We now have the attack on Yom Kippur, which is the holiest festival in the Jewish faith, occurring in 1973 by those lovable religiously sensitive Arabs. Initially being caught off guard the Israelis were able to fend off the attack and were even on their way to capture Cairo when a cease fire was implemented.

Then the real fun began as the Palestinians started to feel they got the wrong end of the stick, seeing how they did some of the fighting and thus the losing. So they turned to capturing schools and holding children hostage as a “legitimate” way to get their point across. It was basically like this, “We can’t beat you fairly so we are going to use terror tactics to get what we want, so there.”

So what does this history lesson have to teach us today? That in the short history of Israel they have been the target of aggression, and the land they have gotten was from gaining ground while defending their homes. Palestinians only use their homes to raise suicide bombers.

Even though the world knows the half-hearted attempt of the Bush Administration is a dog and pony show trying to fool stupid people into believing Bush has a vision of transforming the Middle East into Paradise, the Palestinians start their chants of, “Death to Israel! Death to America!” Then wonder why no one cares about their plight.

The open secret is the very DAY there is a Palestinian State it will declare war on Israel, get a beat down and then we are back where we were. That is what is so frustrating about those people, the only way for peace is to have a Palestinian Genocide.

Words Matter…

In politics the politics of Democracy we often find ourselves with a system that bears a double edge. Our level of involvement often is directly correlated to the success of the system.  Through the media we hear buzzwords and believe that the candidates have the same world view that we do, often to our dismay and disappointment, we are mistaken.

It takes different strategies to win an election than to govern. In the past this has been not as divisive an issue, because the candidates had very different platforms which their parties represented. Federalist-Anti-Federalist, Abolitionists-Status Quo, Civil Rights-Status Quo, and Progressive-Isolationist.

It was the ideas that came under the majority of the fire, while personal attacks have always been common place, it was to be the ideas that would rise to the top and may the best succeed. Congress was a branch of Government that was to Represent the people, and yet still be a check upon the mob.

There was a mutual respect between members as a whole, after all people are people and not everyone will get along, and the respect was at least expected to exist between members. For even though people may feel that particular members are stupid, lazy, zealous, stubborn, there was an understanding that they were trying to do the right thing.

Now when the candidates on both sides of the party line seem to be cloned from one another, the necessity to differentiate between candidates has indeed turned dirty. Attacking the ideas are no longer enough, as personal attacks now have become the weapon of choice. It will continue for the sad fact that it works.

Now words that carried true meaning such as slander, and treason mean nothing more that titles to “books” written by a person who would not understand the meaning of morality and honor if it were stapled to her head.

To be elected, all that is needed is the ability to recognize faults in the political landscape and take advantage of them. To divide is the way to conquer, so it has been on the battle field, so it is on the political arena.

To govern a completely different skill is needed. The ability to draw people together, despite their superficial differences. To give hope in bad times, and to provide boundaries in good times.

While we are a naturally independent people we also have the great desire to “circle the wagons” and bond together during emergencies or when faced with great challenges. Competent leadership has always been assumed during the modern era of politics. It was not however assumed by our forefathers.

While there had been extra checks and balances upon the system, when our government was conceived such as the electoral colleges, state governments electing Senators, the ability for the truly incompetent to rise to prominence. In the modern era where personality seems to matter more than competence we will probably see ever more derisive campaigns.

For we find ourselves in a truly unique time in American Politics. Because of a Party misusing its hold on Power within the Congress by impeaching a President for lying under oath in a civil suite, they have inoculated their Party’s President when the abuses of power have been drastically worse and global in their reach. A system that holds as its foundation accountability in all its forms: to the People, the other equal Branches of Government, the Constitution, Foreign Treaties, and Morality mean little to this Administration, for they have never had to be accountable.

In the same way that elections differ from governance, there is a difference between strategy and tactics in Foreign Policy. The strategy has, and always will be, to promote the principles of Democracy throughout the world and be a beacon of hope. What has differed is the tactics used to achieve that goal, and the underlying circumstances that lead to those tactics.

This administration used the, supposed, tried and true reasoning of Reagan bullying your opponent will provide easy victory. In this way they were caught unawares as the largest attack ever made on US soil was perpetrated, and those responsible still remain free. In this way they forced the intelligence community to fit their ideology, rather than the truth. In this way they led the brave men and women of the military into a cultural minefield in Iraq, rather than being able to secure the victory in Afghanistan.

For these failures, we have no apologies, no explanations, no new ideas to get us out of the hole that our “leaders” placed us in. When asked to explain they dismiss, or question the patriotism of the person asking the questions. Accountability is placing the blame upon those take wrong actions, and are responsible for the ramifications of those mistakes. Awarding the Medal of Freedom does not qualify. Complacency occurs when the populace is too apathetic to care when corruption takes hold of their political system, for those whom Words Matter…

With Friends Like Saudi Arabia…

Well the favorite topic of discussion, the deterioration of Pakistan, keeps getting better and better.  And by better I mean those crazy religious guys with the “the end is near” signs don’t look so crazy.  And that will be the nicest thing I ever say about Pat Robertson.

So here is the latest scoop that is a couple days old Pakistan is importing exiled former leaders in order to make a crazy election even more hectic and violent.  Democracy is great isn’t it kids?  Who is this newly arrived but already has a track record for being corrupt if not incompetent?  Nawaz Sharif is his name and Islam is his game.

Let me explain, Bhutto was brought in to be a shield to Musharraf so that the Islamic fundamentals would be violent towards her and her group of supporters, leaving the Military “not” under the command of Musharraf to run the country without all the pesky uprisings to put down.

So the Saudi’s in their obvious role and history of free and fair elections, fostering peaceful intentions of Islam, and concern for the people of Pakistan thought that if a liberal minded woman is allowed to go back home, then a strict Islamist should have that same right.  I mean its not as if a strict interpretation of the Koran would lead someone to do something irrational, right?

Let me repeat the scenario what we have is a Monarchical Society with a history of exporting strict Islamic beliefs throughout the world preaching that Democracy is an affront to Allah, telling a semi-legitimate “Democratic” government with conflicting segments of its population that could tear the country apart, and has nuclear missiles aimed at India as well as be open to dispensing that technology with like minded degenerates.

And we call the Saudi’s our ally!  The whole purpose of the retaliation in Afghanistan, I thought, was to present accountability to countries that harbored terrorists that would use distorted beliefs to attack innocent people.  I mean I get the Iraq was a way for Baby Bush to show he is a tougher man that Pappa Bush and be like the Scion of God himself Reagan, Peace be Upon him.

I mean I can understand why we would not fault the educational system of Saudi Arabia, cause ours isn’t exactly top notch.  Though we don’t have children’s books that tell the reader that Jews are Monkeys and that the hero is able to kill Jews and Infidels because it is Allah’s will.  Unless you go to Mississippi and replace a couple of the words with easy to understand pictures.

The top two majors in Universities in Saudi Arabia are Arabic and Studies of the Koran.  It would be like the U.S. having its top majors be Spanish and Capitalism.  Throw in some science classes let the people learn stuff that is useful to the world at large.  Let them play HALO 3.  Then the Saudi’s would be too occupied to meddle in the affairs of Countries on the downturn.  As it is we are trying to kill ideas with bullets, and they are speaking to the hearts and minds of our enemies.

Too bad it isn’t telling them to knock it off.  No wonder we have so many Islamic Fundamentals disdaining the American people, With Friends Like Saudi Arabia…

Better to Rule in Hell I Guess

If there is a singular example of why Africa seems to have been orphaned by God, luck or fate, it is the conversation that is taking place in the country of Zimbabwe.  The premier of the former country/Colony of Rhodesia has died this week, sparking the most depressing conversation people could have.  Be a part of a society that actively seeks to keep you from taking part in the economic gains of the “bread basket of Africa”, or be the elite power bloc in a country that has become a joke to the international community.

These are the choices that the native Africans had under the white rule of Rhodesia.  A system of Aparthied that made the Jim Crow laws of the American South look like kindergarden.  There were jobs to be had, menial low paying ones, combined with laws that actively mad sure that you would not be able to climb the social ladder by education, nor economical prosperity.  Surely one would not wish to have anything to do with such a system, for even if you are the elite, it creates a disdain for ones fellow man that fosters a depraved system.

What makes one pause to be so against this system is the one that has followed.  To exact revenge against the people who had kept you down is a human emotion, but if your revolution was to have justice and based on human rights, then the Land Carving excercise that is the root of the problems Zimbabwe faces today.  The average life expectancy in Zimbabwe is 35.  With a president who will be 82, that is unconscionable.

In my brief time on this earth I have been the subject of discrimination, both because of my religion and the color of my skin, yet I can hardly fathom the lengths of discrimination that the Black Africans had to endure, both in Rhodesia and South Africa.  Yet, there is the difference between having competant morally centered leadership, instead of Mugabe.  For South Africa has the ability, if not the desire, to be a Hegemonic Power within Africa.

For the leadership of South Africa held true to the democratic principles of minority rights, and while there was new legislation that passed with the intention of creating a even playing field, and wealth distribution that was fair, nothing reached the lengths and depravity that we saw in Zimbabwe.

It is now that we see mouthpieces of the Mugabe regime, that say while things are tough now, they were so much worse under the rule of the Ian Smith regime.  “Even though we had food we were not treated as men” is the mantra I have read over and over.  “Mugabe is not to blame, the inability to change by Ian Smith and other whites are”  is a self absolving arguement.  People had choices: moral, political, economic choices that they made to do cruel and unspeakable acts in order to seek vengence, and then seek hollow legitimacy and say, “it was the will of the people”.

While Zimbabwe’s social reformation seems to sadly be the norm in cases where large segments of the population are discriminated against, there is the question of, “what if” when we look to places like South Africa and the United States who suffered the same injustices, yet did not tear itself apart.  Each person must make their own choice of serving in Heaven, or to rule in hell.  The Africans in Zimbabwe have decided it is Better to Rule in Hell I Guess.

Gone Frenching

Now my usual disdain for the people of France who if they used any of the soap they produced would be a tolerable people, it was once said that the English Channel was dug by the British because they knew of the French aversion to water. (by once of course I mean here and now)

So for the second time I find myself in a conundrum, having to write something newsworthy dealing with people who speak arrogance, I mean French as their primary language. Their secondary language seems to increasingly be Arabic so we can safely assume large explosions in the near future.

According to the news a segment of the population is undergoing a strike and that the entire country seems to be shutting down, yet people are still more concerned over why the First Lady of France left her husband. People its old Europe, they have no morals! I though we had established that it is America (the US part of North America, the rest of the continents are crap heaps) that had moral authority to meddle in people’s lives.

Are we truly shocked at the inaction of a French President during a time of crisis. The French have a history of this type of behavior. It took the Nazi’s longer to take over Poland for God’s sakes and the Poles were attacking Tanks with horses! The French are just probably waiting for British and American forces to come in and break up the strike.

Since the inception of the United States it has been proven, that if America does most of the work, France will be successful. There is a reason that the top military unit in France is the “Foreign Legion”. It is because Frogs aren’t exactly the model for military excellence. I mean when a symbol of your military prowess, Arc De Triumph, is from a war that you basically tied; well things aren’t going in your favor.

I will say the National Strategy of the French has shown the ability to evolve from the appeasement and eventual capitulation to Germany, twice, to their new strategy of evasion when dealing with the new threats on the global community. If you don’t engage in a fight, then you can’t lose can you? Unless you retreat all the way home, which in fact would make you appear weak to further embolden the enemy.

It was a strategy that Democrats seem to be heartily embracing by never attempting to really stand up to this President who appears to believe that Divine Right supercedes the Constitution.

But this is about the cowardice, ridiculousness, and poor hygiene of the bane of European existence the French, not a cathartic lamentation of my party’s inaction.

So in case you missed it, or cared, there is a strike in France dealing with some issue I don’t care. It is Thanksgiving and the sign on my desk says, “Gone Frenching.”

You’re Europe For God’s Sake

Ethnic rivalries, demanding to be united in a homeland that preserves their culture and language is something that we hear usually in the context of Africa and the Middle East. Those conquered lands were drawn up arbitrarily in order to keep colonial rule, and the export of natural materials flowing.

Now in some parallel universe it is Europe that keeps popping up with ethnic minorities that desire the self determination of a homeland, never mind that they had one once and it got taken over because some states aren’t viable as independent countries. Translation: you got conquered way back when because of superior numbers, technology, and strategy; how will this time be different?

While the Balkans is technically Europe they have not behaved like it except when they were under the control of the USSR, of course that was because soviets would kill everybody if trouble started up. Not the most imaginative way to solve a problem but, if it works it can’t be too awful right?

Now fast forward and we have the people of Kosovo, who are now wanting their own country in order to prevent the violence they suffered at the hands of the Serbians under Milosevic. (Fun Fact: Republicans called Clinton’s involvement in the area irresponsible and unnecessary, and felt that any foreign involvement without a clear exit strategy was treasonable. Now it is patriotic.)

The problem with Kosovo getting a country, is that it does set a bad precedent to other parts of Europe beyond the Balkans. Spain for example has existed as a conglomerate of several different ethnic groups. Portugal was the one that got away, and got to be its own country back when burning witches was cool. The most modern day independent of these have been the Basques who have used terrorist tactics in order to force the issue of independence.

Now to be fair they have calmed down the bombing bit because the followers of Islam seem to have that market of negative press cornered. The invisible hand of the market does work in mysterious ways after all. Kosovo getting its independence would be a very sticky international allowance of the Basques getting their own country. Especially if Venezuela decides to mount a pre-emptive strike.

Then of course we have the lovely people of Chechnya, who have been trying to rid themselves of Russian rule since, lets say 1234 because it is a nice number. Chechnyans don’t mind the violence so much, cause nothing will make the Russians be sympathetic to your cause than killing women and children. They must have taken classes at the Palestinian University of Kaboom.

Then of course there is the outsider of the European Union Turkey, which I favorably call the good Muslims, because they use their military to attack radicals, not funding them to blow themselves up at Western Embassies. They have a problem with the Kurds that has lasted since Alexander the Great left.

Now I support the Kurds, they don’t harbor terrorists to attack America, they are one of the few ethnic groups that are hated as much as the Israelis are in that part of the world. They don’t resent us for Daddy Bush telling them to rise against Saddam’s regime and then turning around and saying helicopters are cool to fly in the no-fly zones, thus cutting the Kurds to ribbons.

But they still don’t get their own country. Now I understand having an economically weak, militarily underfunded, only natural resource is sand, has worked for Jordan all these years, but a united stable Iraq would be better for everyone. Excluding of course the people who die in the ethnic cleansing non-civil war they have.

What I am saying is this, we expect this kind of mess from other places in the World. Europe has always thought of itself as better, having royals marry their relations does that to people, look at Kansas, but keep it together Man, You’re Europe For God’s Sake.

No Switch in Time

Pakistan it appears may be adopted by me as my most favorite place on earth. It has all the desire to be an upstanding part of the international community, and yet a segment of it wants to turn back the clock 1300 years.

Musharraf has learned the lessons of his counterpart President Bush well, using the powers of the office to expand and maintain power despite the legalities that may stand in the way. Too bad for the principle of law that Pakistan does not have the precedent to curb such thinking and seemingly abuses in power.

Too bad for the American Principle of Checks and Balances that impeachment was used as a political tool for partisan gains, thus giving Bush immunity from actions he had taken that contradict the oath of office that he swore to the God he seemingly follows.

What we also see is the failure of the Pakistani Supreme Court to understand the circumstances they preside upon and the tenuous stance that Pakistan finds itself. For instead of the ability to show that they are a check upon the Presidency of Pakistan the Supreme Court Justices have allowed themselves to be relegated to a rubber stamp.

These same circumstances were present when our own Supreme Court in 1937. Conservative Activist Judges had ruled not on the law but through their own ideology, setting a precedent for their liberal brethren 70 years later, but I digress. This prompted FDR who was watching his policies that would make peoples lives better be struck d0wn by the courts, to declare that he would propose a Court Packing Bill, which would increase the size of the Supreme Court.

Were it to pass, FDR would be able to pick new members that would be sympathetic to his cause, and get his legislature passed, but at the cost of the soul of the Supreme Court. For if any President had problems with the High Court striking down legislature, expanding the court would be seen as a possible avenue of circumvention.

This moment was realized by Justice Owen J. Roberts, and a critical decision had to be made. Allow some of these new legislature that was questionably Constitutional, preserving the third branch of government in the long run. Or deny the new legislature and allow the Supreme Court to be expanded as the Executive Branch saw fit. Parts of FDR’s legislation would be past prompting the press to say, “A switch in time; Saved nine.”

It was the inability of Pakistan’s Supreme Court to see this critical moment in the context of the larger picture that has ultimately failed the people it supposedly serves. For while the previous decisions may have been technically circumventing the law allowing Musharraf to remain President, what has occurred is much more dangerous.

Not to be abused by Musharraf who after another 5 years of ruling Pakistan may be sick of the place, but by those who come after. Especially if those who come after Musharraf are much more radical in their desire to obtain power, and the extension of their ideology.

I think it was President Lincoln who said, “Success has many Fathers, While failure is an Orphan.” In most cases this is true, but now we always need a scapegoat in order to place blame on a tangible target. The World has the US to blame for the terrible things that occur. Americans have the Bush Administration, while conservatives have the media.

For now this crisis of Pakistan may be placed on Musharraf because that is the only Pakistani we know. History should place the blame on those who deserve it, the Pakistani Supreme Court. Those men who were so determined to show it had power, that has now set a precedent that its court may be packed should a decision not be liked. Sorry Pakistan, No Switch in Time.

Embracing “Green” Policies

Finally a respectable reason for Americans to finally look in the mirror and examine the policies concerning fossil fuel consumption. That reason is to be able to punch some of these third worldesque countries in the mouth.

There was a terrorist gathering, I mean OPEC met over the weekend to discuss what avenues they would take in order to make sure oil profits were high enough to keep funding extremist Islamic organizations around the world, and that Iran would be able to continue its “peaceful” secret not weaponized nuclear energy, even though we are sitting on a vat of oil program.

Coming out of the event, Hugo Chavez thinking he is a big shot because he got Spain to capitulate after threatening to seize all of its assets as retribution for the Spanish Monarch telling Chavez to shut up a couple of weeks ago.

Now he is on a big platform saying how the Dollar is dead and that it is the first sign of the fall of the American Empire. First off, the dollar may be weakening due to the rise of the prominence of the Euro and other econometrics terms that I didn’t study or listen about but you have no place to talk.

You guys in Venezuela would be better off bartering with Chiquita bananas than the money you guys have. Which is the Bolivar for the one kid in the back that maybe cared.

How would “green” policies change these things? You may ask, for we are and ever shall be one of the greatest countries in the world. People are always going to hate the top dog and you just have to live with it right?

Hells No. This country has been successful because of two philosophical tendencies that permeate all parts of our society. The first of these is hope. We are one of the few beacons of hope to the world, because we give credence that human life has meaning.

Human Rights, Civil Liberties, Democracy all stem from that belief that if given a chance humans are decent creatures capable of great things despite the evil that we do to each other. The hope that tomorrow will be better than today, and that our children will be in better positions to succeed than we were.

The second ideal is very near and dear to my heart and that is Self Confidence. The type of hubris that not lets us settle for being second best. It was this ideal that demanded equality with fellow subjects of the British crown that, once denied, spawned the foundation of this Republic.

It was that same sense that American’s are better that first sought to abolish slavery, then sought to fulfill the promise of equality to all citizens during the civil rights movement. That movement continues today by making sure that all are equally protected under the law.

The difference between past generations and the present one, is that the Self Confidence was used to push the United States to strive to be the City on the Hill we were envisioned to be. We now suffer from the Arrogance of people who believe that it is their birthright to be successful.

The Blood, Sweat, and Tears of the past have culminated to this moment in history, for the torch of our legacy is being passed. It is up to us to make sure that we do not allow that torch to falter denying those around the world to see it, or worse allow it to become extinguished, making the world a much more dismal chaotic place.

So I say to all Americans, red as well as blue, the promise of our country stands on the choices we make today. Who knew that it would be by Embracing “Green” Policies.
